Ah, the lull of the Icelandic summer. Over the past few months, I've had the fortune to embrace the beauty of fleeting rays of sunshine that sporadically grace us here. I have been relishing these moments alongside my girlfriend, amidst an amalgam of personal projects and life transitions. From an exciting day trip to the Icelandic countryside to the creative journey of crafting a children's novel and working on a documentary project.

An Icelandic Countryside Adventure

The charm of the Icelandic countryside is inexplicably enchanting. Recently, my girlfriend and I embarked on a day trip to the countryside. We found a beautiful hotel nestled between yawning horses and rural peace. This was more than just a trip; it was an invitation into a world where time stood still, allowing us to breathe in the fresh air and marvel at the unparalleled beauty around us.

Armed with my camera (Sigma fp) we found joy in capturing the serenity that enveloped us. Every click, every snapshot, was a token of the grandeur that lay before us in poetic skies and landscapes. As I share some of these pictures, I hope to convey even a fraction of the beauty we experienced during our journey.

Creative Endeavours: Documentaries and Novels

While the picturesque countryside left us with beautiful memories, my summer has also been shaped by numerous creative projects. I have been deeply immersed in the production of a documentary, a genre close to my heart that continues to teach me new things about the art form and about myself.

Simultaneously, I've also been working on writing a children's novel. This, in many ways, is a voyage back to my own childhood, an exploration of the world through the lens of imagination and wonder. It’s challenging yet thrilling to shape a narrative that resonates with young minds and of course, my younger self.

On the more mundane side of things, my summer has been punctuated by the process of moving apartments. It's a tedious task, accompanied by its fair share of hassles and intricacies. However, I've noticed an interesting parallel between this process and my writing.

When moving, you're forced to take inventory of all your belongings, to sift through each item, each memento. It's a step-by-step procedure where you linger over certain pieces that hold specific memories or ideas, sometimes longer than you should. In the same way, writing, too, demands patience and careful thought. Each sentence, each word is chosen deliberately and sometimes you may dwell on a single phrase or idea, turning it around in your mind until it feels just right.

Despite the challenges, there is a certain beauty to the process of moving. It's a time of transition, of change, much like the shifting seasons. As I pack away my life into boxes and prepare for this new chapter, I am reminded of the transformative power of change and the beautiful experiences that often lie on the other side.

Halfway through the Icelandic summer, I find myself cherishing its fleeting sweetness. Compact yet impactful, our season is brief, often jokingly said to conclude punctually by the 5th of August. Yet, within this condensed timeframe, it holds a concentrated power, unfolding a saga of experiences that resonate far beyond their temporal confines.
